Installing Windows Vista service packs

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Service Pack 2 (SP2) are important software updates that help improve the reliability, performance, and compatibility of Windows Vista. They are available free of charge.

To find out whether one or both of these service packs are already installed on your computer, click the Start
button , right-click Computer, and then click Properties. If either service pack is installed, Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 will be listed in the Windows edition section.

To get SP2, the most recent service pack, SP1 needs to be installed first. If neither service pack is installed, you should install SP1 first and then install SP2. If SP1 is installed but not SP2, you should install SP2.
