Find out if your hardware is compatible with Windows (HCL)

To find out if your hardware (or hardware you plan to buy) is compatible with Windows Vista, go to the Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) website. This website contains a comprehensive list of computers and devices that have been tested to work with Windows Vista. There are more than two dozen categories of devices you can search.

If you are running Windows XP and plan to upgrade your computer to Windows Vista, you can find out if your computer is ready for Windows Vista by downloading and running the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor from the Microsoft website. It will scan your computer and tell you which components and devices you should upgrade or replace before upgrading to Windows Vista, as well as alert you to any incompatible programs.
