What are the video card system requirements in Windows Movie Maker?

To start and run Windows Movie Maker, the video card on your computer must support DirectX 9 with video drivers for Windows Vista. To learn whether your current video card supports Windows Movie Maker, check the documentation that came with your computer or visit the video card manufacturer's website.

To find information about the video card installed on your computer, do the following:

1.

Click the Start button Picture of the Start button, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.

2.

Click the plus sign (+) next to Display Adapters to display your video card information.

If you plan to buy a new video card, check the packaging to see whether the video card supports DirectX 9 and contains video drivers for Windows Vista.

If your computer cannot run Windows Movie Maker because your computer does not have a video card that supports DirectX 9 with video drivers for Windows Vista, you can download and install another version of Windows Movie Maker from the Microsoft website. This downloadable version of Windows Movie Maker can run on computers that have video cards with lower capabilities. For more information and to download this version of Windows Movie Maker, go to the Microsoft downloads website.
