Spruce up your desktop: Changing the icons used for folders and shortcuts
Do you want to personalize your desktop by giving your icons a fresh, new look? Well, you can, and it’s pretty easy too. You can change the icons for folders and shortcuts that are displayed on your desktop. Here’s how:

Right-click the folder or shortcut that you want to change the icon for, and then click Properties.

Do one of the following:

To change the icon for a shortcut, click the Shortcut tab.

To change the icon for a folder, click the Customize tab.
3.
Click Change Icon, and then choose the new icon that you want to use.
If you can’t find an icon that you like, try creating your own. There are several programs available on the web that you can use to design your own icons.
