Send a media link from within Windows Media Player

You can use Windows Media Player to share a specific portion of an audio or video file with a friend. Note that when you do so, you do not actually send the file itself; instead, you send a link to the file. For this reason, your friend must also have access to the network that the file is located on. Note that it is not possible to send a media link for a live stream from the Internet.

1.

Begin playing a file that your friend can also access over a network (for example, a file on a webpage or a file that is stored in a shared folder).

2.

Click the arrow below the Now Playing tab, point to Enhancements, and then click Media Link for E‑Mail.

3.

Use the Slow, Normal, Fast, Previous frame, or Next frame play speed controls to navigate to the desired start point.

4.

Click the Mark In link.

5.

As the file plays, click the Mark Out link at the point where you want the clip to stop.

6.

Click Send media link in e‑mail. The Player starts your e‑mail program, and attaches a playlist file to a new e‑mail message.

7.

To hide the settings, click the Close button Picture of the Close button in the Enhancements pane.
